Meet Can of Worms SA
Behind the Music

Can of Worms SA brings you feisty live music performances - original tunes written and arranged by the group themselves. Music features vocals from newly crowned lead singer Kerry Hiles, as well as lyrical lines from the saxophone, clarinet and electric violin. The sound is driven by the drumkit, bass and electric guitar. Several of the band are multi-instrumentalists, changing instruments during the set, which presents a varied and interesting performance. Drummer Steve Meise switches between drumkit and djembe for some songs, calling on tribal rhythms to drive the music.
The bands unique sound is a fusion of various genres including World Music, Afro-fusion, and Folk Rock. Think Zap Mama, Freshly Ground, and The Waterboys. A refreshing and catchy musical style that you will soon learn to recognise as Can of Worms SA.
Shows and performances have interactive elements – you will be invited to sing along, dance along, and lose yourself in the music. This cohesive group of musicians present authentic, original South African music for all ages to enjoy.
